Chicago Board of Trade corn futures ended higher on Friday as traders took some bearish risk out of the market after watching the commodity post its biggest weekly decline in more than three years.

The most-active corn contract plunged 8.8% this week, under pressure from the US Agriculture Department's surprise boost to the 2019/20 harvest outlook.

That was the biggest weekly tumble since a 12.2% drop in June 2016.

Corn futures closed at session highs on Friday.

Traders were waiting for results from field surveys to begin coming in from a closely watched crop tour of the US Midwest that starts on Monday.
